Nine temp-to-hire jobs, but still no full employment

Anna Deem

I just stumbled upon this page while using the computers to apply for jobs at the Agency for Workforce Innovation office here in Naples today.I have been looking for a permanent position for the past 18 months.

In October 2007, I quit my retail sales job, because I had found a better job, only to have that job fall through at the last minute. I was working with employment agencies at the time, and in a 12-month period I had nine temp-to-hire positions fall through due to the economic climate here in Naples.

After doing temp work for a while, but apart from a one week assignment that I got through an agency out of Tampa last month, I have not had a temping assignment since June 2008. I don't qualify for unemployment, because I quit the retail job.

Last September, I had to walk away from my condo, my furniture and I had to sell my car, because I couldn't afford to pay the insurance or put gas in it. Right now, I am a half-step away from being a baglady.

I honestly have appliled for every job imaginable, and I can't even get an interview.

If anybody has any good suggestions, I would really be happy to listen!
