Recently Piers Morgan took his CNN show to the heart of gun country, Texas.
One of the largest gun dealers in Texas ’KATY’ welcomed Piers and his crew with open arms. They instructed Piers on the safe handling of guns and allowed him to shoot some of them at targets in their shooting range. Hitting most of the targets with ease using the AR-15 semi-auto, less hits with fully auto AR-15.
The next gun Piers fired an automatic .50 caliber rifle mounted on a tripod, Piers sitting on the floor.
For someone who never fired guns like this Piers did very well hitting targets with relative ease. The .50 caliber rifle shoots a bullet ½” in diameter and over 4”s long and can be lethal/accurate over extremely long distances. These guns are preferred by some of our best military snipers. Guns in the semi-auto mode are legal to buy and parts to make them fully automatic are also legal to buy.
The guns Piers fired sell from $1000 - $45,000 each. The AR-15 which was used in the recent mass murders of our children is the most popular guns being sold today.
The owner of KATY and others dealers tell us the AR-15’s, large capacity magazines up to 100 cartridges and ammo are flying off his shelves now, no more in stock, with thousands on backorder.
Gun dealer customers say they are buying these guns, sometimes four or five at a time because of fear, also investment as these guns can be resold at two to four times of their original cost to the right people.
Just this morning a report of a Fort Myers home was robbed of an automatic assault rifle, other guns an ammo. The victim of this robbery tells us the AK-47 assault rifle was a gift from his father.
Were these guns the target of this robbery? Were these guns and ammo locked up or secured? Who has these guns now?
BTW, People who know guns, police, and home security experts tell us that guns are not the best way to protect you, family members and property from intruders.
If you do feel the need for a gun for protection a shotgun is the most effective. Most shotguns with proper ammo are easy to shoot, accurate at close range, won't kill some inocent person on the next block, and hold only one to seven shells.
Do we need new Federal gun and ammo regulation and laws, you betcha!
