Interested in most frustrating part? Apply online.

Maureen Lenhardt

My biggest concern with the existing labor market is the number of jobs supposedly available online that I keep applying to, and never seem to get an interview.

The jobs are always wanting you to sign up for further education. However, that does not apply to me, since I am currently studying.

In this process, it seems an individual never gets past applying. It makes me wonder if the positions are really available, or if they are just a hook to get you to sign up for classes.

Due to the above situation, it is extremely frustrating and disappointing to expend that amount of effort and energy, only to be constantly bombarded with solicitation.

I am actively looking for permanent, long-term employment and am not the type to just sit on unemployment waiting for someone to find me.

If an individual cannot secure an interview, then how can one get employed? In this age of technology, it seems this is the only way to apply for a position. I have made several attempts to just walk into well-known establishments to speak face-to-face with someone, only to be turned away and told to apply online.

This seems to just be a vicious cycle.
