A Life of Citizenship

A perfect example of a person that has made a difference in a community is Benjamin Franklin. If you read about Benjamin Franklin, you will learn that he clearly made it as a contributing citizen to Philadelphia where he lived.

"Who and what was Benjamin Franklin?"

I can tell you who and what he was. Benjamin Franklin was a man of many things. He was a apprentice, printer, inventor, philosopher, politician, soldier, firefighter, ambassador, family man, signer, shopkeeper, bookseller, cartoonist, and grandfather. Much of what Franklin did was improving his city and the lives of the community. By the end of his life, Benjamin Franklin definitely became an outstanding citizen from all of his hard work. We have since been energized by Franklin's life and legacy as his most famous discovery was electric..

To have citizenship means being a good citizen of your community. It's giving back to the community in may ways. To do your share to make your school, your community, and the world a better place. It is to take responsibility to what goes on around you. To participate in the community service. To help take care of the environment. To be a good neighbor and to treat people with respect and dignity, and to follow the rules of your family.

I like to help out the community by helping out in Explorers. We learn to become better kids by helping out the other kids in need by filling candy bags for Halloween or by helping out the community during special events. Cleaning up the events is helping by making it cleaner and making the world a better place. I also take care of the environment by helping my mom when we clean canals and pick up garbage from the roadside. I also like to help get many donations for the needy when my mom does a clothing drive for the poor.

That's why I would like to write about my mom, Annette Kniola. She loves to help out the community in many ways. As some may know, my mom is trying to build a park. She has started to get us a park a long time ago. She feels a park was definitely needed to bring our community together. Since working on getting the park built, she has also helped out in many other ways. She has participated in Keep Collier Beautiful by adopting a canal and to have us clean it and many others ones in our county. She puts together clothing drives for the poor and has donated many items to Haiti many years ago when they had the earthquake.

My mom has also been part of the community in by keeping some pages on Facebook to bring the community and our baseball teams together. She keeps them informed on current events and any ideas she has. She also is a big part of writing a blog for the Naples Daily Newspaper. When she feels the need to reach out to the community, she takes the time to let people know how she feels about things and also uses the blog to let the community know about fundraisers or special events too.

My Mom is also a small business owner of Heavens Pennies. A long time ago she had a niece that died of drowning. Her name was Ivy Rose Scholtz. Since then my mom created a coin album called Heaven Cent. The sales of this album helps out the Stew Leonard III Children's Charity. She gives 10% of the proceeds to them. This way kids can learn how to swim.

Many others things my mom has done to reach out to her community is going to many meetings of government trying to make better changes in the community to make it a better place to live. She loves to do the work as a citizen here in Naples and she feels it make her a better person because she participates and takes responsibility of her community very seriously. My mom is a great example of citizenship.

Thanks, but next year, we need more help from the schools and parents to participate. It's a start.
