The eDaily News contains all the news, photos, stocks, box scores, daily comics, puzzles, and all the money saving ads that are printed in The Naples/Bonita Daily News. In addition you will find features in the eDaily News such as advanced search capabilities, translation of selected articles into 11 different languages, classified listings, great feature articles and, most importantly, the news of the day. You will also have unlimited access to the eDaily News 30-day archives. (And arriving soon-- audio read back of selected articles).

No, the naplesnews.com website will remain available free of charge to all users. Our website is separate from the eDaily News. However, accessing naplesnews.com will not provide you access to the eDaily News features which include an electronic replica of the printed Daily News, access to the last 30 days of the eDaily News, advanced search functions for specific areas of interest including all the ads published that day, increase the size of articles and pictures for easier viewing, translation of selected articles into 11 different languages, and coming soon audio read back of selected articles. Not to mention electronic access to all the special sections published throughout the week like Digital Digest, Showcase, and Sunday’s Parade Magazine, just to mention a few of the many benefits of our print and e-edition delivery.
Functionality of The eDaily News
A dial-up connection through a modem has a much slower connection speed and is not optimal for viewing the eDaily News. A broadband (Cable Modem or DSL) connection allows for the best connectivity and enjoyment of your eDaily News subscription. If you use dial–up a “56K’’ icon can be clicked to view pages in a format that requires less data being downloaded. This format is recommended for users with dial-up modems or other slower internet connections.
Yes, on the top of the eDaily News page there is a “Help” button which guides the reader of the eDaily News with helpful viewing suggestions.
The eDaily News uses a split screen. When you select from the toolbar at the top of the page you want to see, the page appears on the left side of the screen. Click on the article or ad you want to read. The story or graphic appears on the right side of the screen. You can then view information in two ways. “Graphic View” displays the story as it appears in the newspaper, in columns and with photos in place. “Text View” is a text view of the story and allows you to continue a story from page to page. You can e-mail or print the story in either mode. Use the icons at the top right-hand corner to adjust the view.
Yes, click on the item you want to print, then click on the icon of the printer at the top right-hand corner of the toolbar. You may have to adjust your printer settings to contain features to one page.
Click on the article or ad you want and select the email icon. The link of the article or ad will be sent.
Yes, by first selecting the article you want to translate, you can choose the "translate" drop down menu to select up to 11 different languages.
If you cannot view the entire width of the page, find the scroll bar along the bottom edge of your Web page and scroll right or left to view more of the page. You will also be able to navigate up and down using the scroll bar on the right edge.
Through the eDaily Newsstand you will have the capability to read all the publications currently published by the Naples News Media Group: The Marco Eagle, The Banner, Collier Citizen, Vista Semanal (The only Hispanic weekly newspaper in SW Florida), The Naples Sun-Times and also the Journals (Pelican Bay, North Naples, Naples, Bonita Bay) all without any subscription required. Currently these links take you to their respective web pages; however, they are in the process of being converted to the eDaily format.
Yes, through the eDaily Newsstand you also have links to the web pages of the USA Today, Wall Street Journal, New York Times and the Newseum, a source for links to newspapers from all over the world. Place your cursor over the item of interest on the full-page image (left side of your screen). The item will become highlighted. Left click on the item. It will enlarge in a window on the right side of your screen for easier reading.You may click on the item again to change viewing modes.
1. Use the navigation buttons, which appear at the top of the window:




a. To move immediately to Page 1, left click on the “First” arrow or word.
b. To move backward through the paper, left click on the “Prev” arrow or word.
c. To move forward through the paper, left click on the “Next” arrow or word.
d. To move immediately to the last page, left click on the “Last” arrow or word.
2. Navigate through the e-edition in Double Page (Flash) Mode using any of these methods:
a. Click on the sides of the pages, or click the top outside corner to automatically flip the page.
b. Grab the top outside corner of the page and drag it toward the center of the newspaper to flip the page.
c. Press the Page-Up/Page-Down keys to flip pages backward/forward.
d. Press the Home/End keys to jump to the first/last page.
e. Click over the page, or press the Insert/Delete keys, to zoom in/out on the current page.
f. When you are zoomed ...
1. Use the mouse wheel to scroll up and down.
2. Use the arrows keys to scroll in all directions.
3. Grab the page by clicking on it then drag the mouse to move in any direction.
4. Double-clicking over an article will switch between Single Page and Double Page modes.
3. Use the pull-down list of pages located in the top center of the window.

a. Left click on the menu’s pull-down arrow.
b. From the list of pages that appears, left click on the page you want to view.

6. Use the pull-down list of newspaper editions located in the top center of the window. Some newspapers may only have one edition available. In that case, this list will only have one choice in it, or it might not be present at all.

Use the page mode buttons, which appear at the top of the window:

a. To view one page of the paper at a time, left click on the “Single” icon or word.
b. To view two pages of the paper at a time, left click on the “Double” icon or word.
c. To view a collection of small ”thumbnail images” of every page of the paper, left click on the “Thumb” icon or word. You can then left click on one of the thumbnail images to have that page displayed in the full screen.
d. To view an index, or Table of Contents, listing of the newspaper, left click on the “Index” icon or word.
e. To view the pages in a format that requires less data to be downloaded, left click on the “56K” icon or word. This format is recommended for users with 56K (dialup) modems or other slower internet connections.
1. Type the word(s) to search for into the “Quick Search” input box at the top right side of the window. Press the Enter key on your keyboard and your search results will appear in the left side of the browser.
Using either of the above two search methods, the “Search Results” button will toggle the left side of the screen between your search results listing and the full page view. Left click on an article title in the search results listing to have that article displayed in the right side of the screen.
1. This button will cause the left side of the screen to recall and display the page that contains the article currently displayed in the right side of the screen.

2. These buttons are mutually exclusive - only one will appear at a time. If the currently displayed article is showing in text mode, the “Graphic” mode button will be displayed. Left clicking it will change the article to a graphic view. If the currently displayed article is showing in graphic mode, the “Text” mode button will be displayed. Left clicking it will change the article to a text view.
The “Visual Mode” drop down selection box will let you set the default mode for all articles to be either Graphic or Text mode.
3. This button will allow you to print the article currently displayed in the right side of the screen. A pop-up window will allow you to control the printing.
4. This button will allow you to email the article currently displayed in the right side of the screen. A pop-up window will allow you to enter email addresses.

5. These buttons can be used to increase or decrease the size of an article's text. (Your browser window controls may also let you further increase or decrease the text size.)
1. Left click on the “PDF” or “Thumb” button to display thumbnail images of all the pages in the newspaper.
2. Select what you would like to download
a. To download one page of the newspaper, left click the
PDF symbol next to the image of the page you would like. You will be prompted to then save or view that PDF file.
b. To download all pages of the newspaper, left click the “Download Complete Edition” link next to the image of the newspaper's front page. Then click on the "Click here to download it" link when it appears.
c. To download only selected pages of the newspaper, left click in the box beside the name of the page that you would like to view or download. This will result in a check mark appearing in the box. (Left click again to erase the check mark.) You may place check marks next to more than one page if you wish. When all desired pages have been selected, left click on the "Download selected pdf" link next to the image of the newspaper's front page. Then click on the "Click here to download it." link when it appears.
3. At this point your browser may give you the option of opening or saving the file containing the newspaper pages. If you selected multiple pages in step 2, each newspaper page will be in a PDF file, and the multiple PDF files will be in a single zip file. If Acrobat Reader does not automatically unzip this file you can use any unzip program to do so before viewing the PDFs.
Left click on the “Account Info” button to start or review your subscription to the newspaper, or to change your password.
Left click on the “E-Notify” button to start, stop or adjust this feature. E-Notify allows you to define a search of the newspaper to be run daily, with the results emailed to you automatically.
Left click on the “Marketplace” button to view and search all display ads from our newspaper.
Left click on the “Help” button at any time to have these instructions appear in a new window.
