Naples High graduate Nancy Rios finished 25th in Race No. 5 of the Women’s RS:X windsurfing competition on Friday morning at the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center.

Race No. 6 was rescheduled for today, at this point putting three races on the schedule. The fifth and sixth races were originally scheduled for Thursday but were postponed due to light winds. That created a heavy schedule on Friday, and not all of the races in all of the sailing classes were completed. Nos. 9 and 10 are scheduled for Monday, with the medal race on Wednesday.

Rios, who graduated from Naples in 2005, has finished 25th, 24th, 22nd and 26th, respectively, in the first four races. She has been the top female windsurfer in the United States for three years and is ranked 77th in the world.

Since March 6, coyotes have been fingered in a string of attacks against dogs, cats and goats in Lee and Collier counties. Coyotes have killed three small dogs, injured three others, and caused a man who came into contact with the coyote’s saliva and a woman who was bitten by one to have rabies shots.
