The Florida Gulf Coast University women’s soccer team finished their exhibition slate Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 victory over visiting Nova Southeastern.

Estero High alum Amber McCall scored two goals against the Sharks, opening the scoring from the top of the box six minutes into the second half, assisted by Michelle Kuhnen.

Lindsay Haw put FGCU ahead 2-0 in the 57th minute, and McCall completed the scoring 11 minutes later, scoring on a header on another pass from Kuhnen.

“We had some good looks early but we were a little impatient,” FGCU coach Jim Blankenship said. “Once we scored in the second half we loosened up and played well,”

FGCU and the defending Division II champion University of Tampa played to a scoreless tie Thursday in the Eagles’ other exhibition game.

The Eagles open the regular season at 7 p.m. Friday against Florida Atlantic at the FGCU Soccer Complex.

Since March 6, coyotes have been fingered in a string of attacks against dogs, cats and goats in Lee and Collier counties. Coyotes have killed three small dogs, injured three others, and caused a man who came into contact with the coyote’s saliva and a woman who was bitten by one to have rabies shots.
