Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum was pro-active about announcing the Price Gouging Hotline in advance of bad weather rather than waiting for reports of businesses taking advantage of people.

Residents who suspect extreme increases in the price of food, water, hotels, ice, gasoline, lumber and equipment may call 1-866-9-NO-SCAM (1-866-966-7226).

    Since March 6, coyotes have been fingered in a string of attacks against dogs, cats and goats in Lee and Collier counties. Coyotes have killed three small dogs, injured three others, and caused a man who came into contact with the coyote’s saliva and a woman who was bitten by one to have rabies shots.
