The Florida Gulf Coast University men’s basketball team has been busy.

Refusing to rest on the laurels of last year, its first in NCAA Division I, FGCU has lined up an exciting schedule for 2008-09 that includes six more homes games than last year for a total of 17 at 4,500-seat Alico Arena on campus and road encounters with Florida and Michigan.

Plus, FGCU will play in a special tournament with 11 other teams that will be played long-distance at various sites around the country, including Alico.

The excitement is sure to build interest and loyalty among fans on and off campus.

Good stuff.

And, as we like to remind everyone about FGCU, we’ve only just begun.

Since March 6, coyotes have been fingered in a string of attacks against dogs, cats and goats in Lee and Collier counties. Coyotes have killed three small dogs, injured three others, and caused a man who came into contact with the coyote’s saliva and a woman who was bitten by one to have rabies shots.
