Ave Maria University dedicated its fourth undergraduate dormitory at a ceremony Saturday morning.

The dorm is 44,453 square feet with 80 student rooms, allowing for an occupancy of 160 students.

The dorm was needed to match an enrollment increase at the school.

More than 300 new students will join Ave Maria this year for a total undergraduate enrollment of about 600.

Ave Maria’s dorms are single-sex and undergraduates are required to live on campus.

The new dorm, named St. Joseph, is a men’s dorm.

The second year of classes at the school’s permanent campus in eastern Collier County begin Monday.

Liam,
You need a new assignment - go out there and COUNT the students. You will not find 600.

I'm told by friends in conversations that very few of these students are actually paying tuition. Promising students with no ability to pay gambling on accredidation.

Priming the pump, as it is called.

Hey, if you live in the wilderness, you will do anything to prime that pump.

Drove out there last week-end and checked it out.Beautiful church in the middle of no where. Many students have already left because of the isolation and are going to USF and UF and FSU.Give it about 50 years.

That's a huge, beautiful and expensive campus in crop lands for 600 students.

I've been there twice in the daytime, and all I've seen are a few cars, no people, and tumbleweeds blowing across the cobblestone streets. It's tres creepy.

More brainwashed knee scrapers added to the shallow end of the pool.

Since March 6, coyotes have been fingered in a string of attacks against dogs, cats and goats in Lee and Collier counties. Coyotes have killed three small dogs, injured three others, and caused a man who came into contact with the coyote’s saliva and a woman who was bitten by one to have rabies shots.
