Literacy Volunteers of Collier County (LVCC), a not for profit organization dedicated to teaching illiterate and non-English speaking adults to speak, read, and write English, will be hosting it’s second annual “Dancing with the Stars for Literacy” fundraising competition with the Grand Finale event to take place on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the Naples Hilton.

This event, held with the Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Naples, will allow 7 community members to learn a ballroom dance of their choice and to raise funds to support literacy at the same time. All the dancers (The STARS) will get to perform their dan ce at the Grand Finale at the Naples Hilton on Saturday, November15, 2008. “Attending the event “Dancing with the STARS for Literacy” is a great way to have fun while supporting a worthwhile cause”, says Danny Tyler, President of the Board of Directors of LVCC. “It’s a great way to build a stronger community. When you support Literacy, everybody wins”.

There will be two winners of the event: one winner for the best fundraiser and one for the best dance. The winners will have their faces and names on the Naples Trolley.

The Hosts for the evening are Nancy Alvarez and Eric Weisfeld ABC-7 News Anchors. Judges are Bill Barnett, Mayor, City of Naples; Tony Marino, CEO of Marino Transportation Group, and Judy Perez, owner, Arturo’s Italian Restaurant, Marco Island. Dancers include: Dr. Jeffery Allbritten, President, Edison College, Reg Buxton, Assoc. Publisher, The Journals, Ana Daniel, Personal Banker, Marco Community Bank, Astrid Ma rtinez, Co-Host, Fox 4 Morning Blend, Matthew W. Mathias, Sr. VP National City, Rosmarie Strother, Tutor and Volunteer, Literacy Volunteers of Collier County, and Sharon Treiser, Senior Director, Mellon Wealth Management.

Sponsors of the event are: Fred Astaire Dance Studios, Naples Daily News, n Magazine, Chico’s and Wachovia.
