The Florida Stingrays, an American Indoor Football Association expansion team, announced today that LB/FB Chris Morant was named as an alternate to the AIFA's Western Conference all-star team.
Morant, a former player for the arenafootball2's Florida Firecats, was coaching children at his football camp at Lions Park in Fort Myers when he received a call from VP of Operations Jay Lawrence with the news.
The AIFA's All Star Classic will be played in February in Harrisburg, Pa.
“It is great to see Chris Morant get recognized for his on field contributions, but Chris is a lot more than just a talented football player,'' Lawrence said. "Having Chris with the Stingrays was like having an extra coach on the field and his work with children makes him an outstanding ambassador to the community.''
Morant is hosting his camp through Friday from 10-11:30 a.m. Call 243-8888 for more information or e-mail morantcj@hotmail.com.
