Florida Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner seeks federal disaster declarations for Florida counties
NAPLES Florida Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner Charles Bronson has asked Gov. Charlie Crist to seek federal disaster declarations for 36 Florida counties battered by high winds, excessive rainfall, flooding or tornados from Tropical Storm Fay.
The counties include Collier, Lee, Hendry, Glades and Charlotte.
With standing water remaining in some areas of Florida, Bronson said more counties could be added to the list. The threshold to get on the list is agricultural losses of at least 30 percent.
If there’s a disaster declaration, agricultural producers in the named counties would be entitled to federal disaster assistance.
