Eight golfers from Southwest Florida made it out of the qualifier on Saturday at West Bay Club in Estero to advance to the 27th Florida State Mid-Amateur.
Bonita Springs' Tim Carpenter shared medalist honors with Matthew Anderson of Tampa with 73s. Other area golfers advancing were: Charles Alaimo, Naples, 75; Jacques Legere, Fort Myers, 75; Phil Olive, Estero, 75; Lee Booker, Naples, 76; Chad Michael, Sanibel Island, 77; Greg David, Naples, 78; and Rokki Rogan, Fort Myers, 78. Roggan won a three-way playoff for the final spot.
The Mid-Amateur, which is for golfers age 25 and older, is at Coral Creek Club in Placida from Oct. 2-5.
