Several store break-ins reported at Coastland mall

Coastland Center Mall

1900 Tamiami Trail North, Naples

— Naples police are investigating multiple break-ins at stores inside the Coastland Center mall.

Around 9 a.m. today police were called to Regis Hairstylists for a reported break-in, police spokesman Michael Herman said. When investigators arrived they learned that someone had also broken into the All About Sports store, and attempted to break into Cutlery World and Animal Magnetism.

It appears that the burglars entered the stores through the pull-down gates, Herman said.

"We’re still very early in the investigation," Herman said. "We don’t have much in the way of specifics yet."

It is unclear if anything was stolen from any of the stores, or if anything was damaged beyond the locks on the gates. Herman said store break-ins at the mall are extremely unusual.

"Someone actually gaining entry to the mall interior and having the time and opportunity to do something like this," he said, "this is not a common occurrence."

Keep an eye out for the perp. He or she will have glowing vitamin enriched hair, walking a small puppy, and wielding a knockoff of an ancient Chinese katana sword, or possibly concealing a swiss army knife.

There ARE security cameras in the mall, so for those of you out there who don't know what you are talking about, don't spread rumors and make other people worry. It's the animals who break in during the night that is the problem.

The crackerjack mall security does have cameras in all the hallways with someone sitting in their office in front of a bunch of TV screens round the clock. Their office is by the food court you can walk in and see the TV's at anytime. Just think "Paul Blart Mall cop" I am surprised they did not steal the TV screens from the security office.
