I have to wonder why all this interest in expanding the commission at this time. Adding two additional commissioners will cost money. Not only for their salaries but they will each need an administrative assistant and of course offices and who knows what else. Seems to me that this is not the best time to be thinking about adding expenses like this to the county budget.
Also just who and what organizations are behind this big push? Two at large commissioners will need to run county wide which means they will need a lot of campaign funds to win office. Where are those funds going to come from? Possibly the usual "special interests" or "power brokers"?
Not sure where this is all leading but we all need to keep a close eye on this process.
