Letter: Expecting more

Milla Price, Naples

Expecting more

Our President Barack Obama gave a great State of the Union address the other night.

Too bad it was all just talk!

What did you expect a speech to be?

Talk is what speeches are.

While he was laying out a plan of problem solving actions, the GOP was thinking of how to most effectively derail progress for the country, as our failure is their only easy path to redemption.

Soon they'll learn that we demand that they take the harder road. Divorce conservatism and embrace middle of the road responsibility.

Or hit the road Jack.

You know I like some of the things our president has done but you (PMZ) live in a world all your own. Conservatives are concerned about a run-away debt with no budget since president Obama was elected which allows him to spend spend spend.

Now if you want to jump on the right wing Kooks thats one thing but true conservatives (republican and democrat alike) were upset with what Bush was spending. I never imagined a debt like this with what Obama has spent.

It's not going to last much longer before the money from China is gone and we have no where else to turn to. We the people just don't have it anymore.

I kinda wondered where all of the prescription meds had gone!

Anybody have a date on the calendar when we can start believing anything this guy reads?

What Obama initiated programs can you cite as massive spending?

As I said the other day, you probably expect that the next capital of the Costa Concordia should be held accountable for her accident as the original captain abandoned ship before she hit bottom.

Every fact points to Bush's policies including his impact on the economy as virtually the sole cause of our debt.

Why did he fail so badly? Because he was a fiscal conservative. He actually believed the voodoo economics dogma.

Good fiscal policy is about investing, not saving, about growing, not shrinking, about attacking problems aggressively, not wringing one's hands, about optimism, not pessimism.

Could somebody explain to me what all President Obama spent all this money on? How President Obama drove us into debt?

The spending on stimulus programs saved us. We still have an auto industry.

Or maybe it's the interest that we are now paying China for the first million dollar missile GW Bush used to blow up a camel.

Get realistic. We don't get out of the mess President Obama inherited doing nothing.

But with the market up, unemployment down and things looking better than they have in years, President Obama's gambles seem to be paying off.

Even dispute the Republican obstructionists try to foil him at every turn.

If things continue as they have been for the last 6-8 months, does anyone really think The Poster Boy for the 1%ers or The Buffoon have a chance?

The problem now isn't the Presidency, it is the Congress, especially the fractured Tea Party, evangelical, right wing, moderate and conservative, creationalist, anti-choice Republictan Party.
