Wrong move
The Susan G. Komen Foundation has just defunded Planned Parenthood and angered many of their (possibly former) donors.
By taking this action, they have moved from providing an important health service to taking a political action. Not smart.
Planned Parenthood is the largest single gynecological health-care provider in the country. Their goal has always been to provide quality, affordable reproductive health-care services to all women who need it. One out of five women in the United States has received services from Planned Parenthood. Eighty percent of the clients are 20 years old or older. Seventy-six percent of Planned Parenthood clients receive services to prevent unintended pregnancy.
Planned Parenthood provides nearly 770,000 Pap tests/smears and nearly 750,000 breast exams each year. Planned Parenthood provides more than 4 million tests and treatments for sexually transmitted infections, including HIV each year. Planned Parenthood prevents more abortions through these services than any other single organization.
These are documented services, not just protesters screaming outside a Planned Parenthood location to stop abortions. Abortions represent only 3 percent of the services provided.
Think about it, 750,000 breast exams and the Komen Foundation — the group that considers early discovery of breast cancer important — wants to stop funding this important resource, just because they have decided they want to bring politics into the mix.
Shame on the Komen Foundation. I, for one, have lost all my respect for them.
I support Planned Parenthood

Denying heath care to women is another tactic the "christian" right is using to gain political control of your life. Shame on the Komen foundation for giving in to them and shame on the GOP for holding the fake investigation they based the decision on. Apparently, they have targeted the Komen foundation for quite some time to get them to stop providing funding for breast exams but they weren't successful until they found a GOP henchman to help them.
Here's what to do - kick some money to the cause. The cult has planned a commercial to air during the superbowl, use that time to make a donation to Planned Parenthood.
Note to the GOP: kick these cultists to the curb.

Now you're getting it, reach in your own pocket and "kick some money to the cause", case closed.

I think that the public's reaction to this is another strong signal to the GOP. Watch Mitt adjust his "beliefs" to the new reality.

I'll be donating to Susan G. Komen now.

Politics or policy? According to Komen, in a statement they issued Wednesday evening, they denied that politics played a role and reiterated that its decision was based on newly adopted criteria for issuing grants.
The new policy criteria bar grants to any organization that's under local, state or federal investigation.
Planned Parenthood is being investigated for alleged financial improprieties by congress.
"We regret that these new policies have impacted some long-standing grantees, such as Planned Parenthood, but want to be absolutely clear that our grant-making decisions are not about politics," the Komen statement said.
Komen pledged to ensure that women who need breast-health services can still have access to them.
Too often we citizens let our political bias over-rule our rational and lead us to a rush to judgement.

It's interesting how liberals work. First, they want their causes funded by government. Now they want people that support other causes to fund theirs.
It really is amazing.

Unlike conservatives who want their causes funded through, more for me, less for you.

You are truly an idiot.

Over $3 million raised so far to restore the health services the cultists tried to end.
Their next target will be organizations that fund stem cell research. Stem cells are currently being investigated a a cause of relapse and metastasis in both breast cancer and ovarian cancers.
The GOP must stop allowing groundless investigations into organizations that oppose the cultists. All organizations that rely on either or both public and private funding are at risk through this deceitful tactic.

I called and texted this fund; with some advice; rethink this stupid move. I informed them that I was seeking a Senate investigation into how much they pay their board members versus; how much of the donations go to actual health care. Wow; that was a head snapping change of mind. I'm guessing between the salaries and bonuses, they failed to meet the eligibilty level that oversee these type groups. Presto, chango; wait we didn't mean it, we just forgot who we are and what we do. The G.O.P. is asking to be removed from office it seems. I as a long time Republican; just may give them what it is they are asking for.

I hope to continue to irritate you for the simple reason that you are wrong about most things that you've posted about.
I have no hope that you'll change to thinking for yourself, or being a responsible citizen of the country, but at least keeping others exposed to the flaws in your dim witted dogma will keep your disease from spreading.

Keep up the good work, Peter. The last thing we need is more people who think like DinNaples!

"think like DinNaples" = oxymoron.
