A pair of former Collier County high school football players have been named NCAA Division II preseason All-Americans by Beyond Sports College Network.
Former Palmetto Ridge linebacker Tony Leggett was named to the first team. Leggett, a 6-foot-1, 215-pound senior, led Upper Iowa with 109 total tackles last year. He added four tackles for loss, four fumble recoveries, three pass breakups, three passes defensed, one quarterback hurry and one blocked kick.
Leggett played for Golden Gate High School before transferring to Palmetto Ridge. He started his college career as a walk-on at Alabama-Birmingham.
Former Naples High offensive lineman George Davila of the University of Charleston was named to the second team. Davila, also a senior, was a Super Region I All-Region Second Team selection after last season. Davila helped pave the way for record-breaking running back Jordan Roberts, who accounted for a school record 2,274 all-purpose yards.
