College baseball: Ave Maria loses at Nova Southeastern

The Nova Southeastern University baseball team scored six runs in the eighth inning en route to an 11-3 win over Ave Maria in Davie on Wednesday.

The Gyrenes (17-24) tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the seventh, but the Sharks (18-5) responded with three in the seventh and six more in the eighth. Freshman catcher Conor Sullivan and junior shortstop Alex Sanchez each had a pair of hits and an RBI for Ave Maria.

Ave Maria (8-7 in The Sun) heads to Savannah, Ga., this weekend for a Sun Conference series against SCAD-Savannah. Friday's game starts at 3 p.m., with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon.
