PORT CHARLOTTE — A registered sex offender has been charged with first degree murder after confessing to killing a man found in a makeshift grave beside a home in Port Charlotte.
The caretaker of a 74-year-old Port Charlotte man reported to CCSO Saturday morning that she was concerned for the well-being of the man. After speaking to an ex-boyfriend, 47-year-old Juan Reyes, the woman was led to believe the man could have been the victim of some kind of violence.
Detectives say Reyes lived at the home with the elderly man and his caretaker. The caretaker had been out of town for several days and returned home on Saturday.
