Allegiant has announced new nonstop jet service from Southwest Florida to MacArthur Airport on Long Island, which is 50 miles east of New York City.
The service at Punta Gorda Airport begins Dec. 20 with flights on Fridays and Mondays. The MacArthur Airport has a dedicated shuttle to connect to the Long Island Railroad, which is on the north side of the airport for access to New York City.
Punta Gorda Airport now has nonstop service to 20 cities.
The airline offers a promotional round-trip fare of $99 and must be purchased by Aug. 22. Subsequent introductory fares will start at $69 one way and will be available until Aug. 27.
“We are pleased to add the beaches of Southwest Florida as an affordable, convenient destination option for Long Island residents,” Allegiant President Andrew C. Levy said in a news release issued by Allegiant.
The Punta Gorda Airport is off Interstate 75 at exit 161.
