Softball: Titans' Shadley racks up another All-American honor

Golden Gate High School’s Marinna Shadley was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American third team Friday.

It’s the third straight year Shadley has been honored by the NFCA. The Daily News Softball Player of the Year is headed to Middle Tennessee State.

Shadley hit .625 with four homers, eight doubles, nine triples, 43 stolen bases, 35 RBIs and 45 runs scored. As a pitcher, she was 12-3 with a 0.97 ERA and 135 strikeouts in 116 innings pitched.

Earlier in the month, Shadley and teammate Bailey Gogia were named to the Florida Athletic Coaches Association Class 5A all-state team. Gulf Coast’s Cali Gutierrez made the 6A team.

Shadley, Gogia, and Golden Gate’s Nicole Dwyer made the FACA 5A academic team.

In FACA baseball, First Baptist’s Robbie Emerson was named to the Class 2A all-state team, and Donato DiNorcia, Elliot Gonzalez, Jay Jenkins and David DiNorcia of Seacrest made the 3A team.

Luke Caple and Tony Damiano of Gulf Coast made the 6A academic team, while the DiNorcias, Cristopher and C.J. Price of Seacrest were named to the 3A team.
