Now hear this
“Beautiful Naples” has become “Noisy Naples.”
That may soon be the tourism slogan if something is not done.
Extremely loud leafblowers are everywhere assaulting our eardrums all day.
We can’t play tennis, go for a walk — even on a Sunday morning — or enjoy our lanais in peace without hearing the roar of leafblowers.
What is this obsession with blowing every last stray leaf and clouds of dust from parking lots and streets? People do not come to Naples for noise.
Why did City Council turn a deaf ear to entreaties to ban blowers or to regulate lower-volume blowers or times?
Can you hear us now, councilors? The noise is driving everyone crazy and ruining our environment.
P.S. — I have actually seen one homeowner sweeping her sidewalk, believe it or not!
