Fire at Marissa Collections
Fire erupted Saturday night.
NAPLES — City of Naples firefighters knocked down a blaze that erupted inside a high-end clothing boutique Saturday night.
Firefighters were called to Marissa Collections, 1167 Third St. S., at 7:43 p.m. and arrived four minutes later, Chief Steve McInerny said. They had the fire extinguished in 15 minutes, he said.
The fire, which appears to have been electrical in nature, burned an approximately 12-foot-by-12-foot section of the 10,000-square-foot store and caused smoke damage throughout the first floor of the two-story building. Damage is estimated at $100,000.
McInerny said clothes on the racks may have been too close to the window display lighting.
The specialty shop owned by Marissa and Burt Hartington has operated in downtown Naples since 1975.
