Eriece Bradford Harris

A Georgia woman faces a DUI charge after being behind the wheel of an SUV parked outside a hotel Saturday.

Eriece Bradford Harris, 32, of Warner Robins, was charged with DUI-first offense, after Collier County sheriff’s deputies say they observed her sleeping in her Subaru Forester.

The car was parked on a sidewalk in between two hotels near the 4100 block of Golden Gate Parkway. Deputies say they found Harris asleep, drifting in and out of sleep and saw her head hit the steering wheel, causing the horn to sound.

Deputies arrested her and took her to the Naples Jail Center.

This is so news worthy!! Really!!

What exactly was she arrested for? You can get a DUI for sleeping in a car? I thought the D stood for driving.

It only goes to show that if you find yourself too drunk to drive and you do the right thing by pulling over to sleep it off, you're far more likely to get charged with DUI because eventually a cop is going to happen by and arrest you. The lesson here is, if you have underestimate your level of intoxication and attempt to drive home, you have a much better chance of not going to jail if you just keep going until you get where you were going.
Its a s----- way to enforce DUI laws. It doesn't serve to make anyone safer.

If the auto's engine is still running ,and she ran off the road onto the sidewalk ,and fell asleep ,I can understand the DUI .

I've heard that if the keys are in the ignition, they can get you.
But, I was told that 40 years ago, when they'd follow you to make sure you made it home OK!

Collier County's finest trying to find an easy arrest.....while the bad guys get away with everything! Welcome to Naples.....joke!

When a cop pulls you over usually the first thing they ask you is "do you know you you were stopped". The best and most accurate answer I can come up with is "yes because its easier than catching real criminals".

So theoretically if she was drinking in her hotel room, and had to get something out of the glove box in her car, she could be arrested for DUI.

When I moved here in 1979 you could get a cocktail at the Witches Brew drive thru window and continue on your way. Different open container laws and a more relaxed police force. Ofcourse the area had a much smaller population then.

They make an arrest - and you complain because they don't make enough arrests???

Bad guys get "away with everything" Really???

Are you prone to exaggeration?

Sounds like Naples is in the middle of anarchy.

A few points:

1) The woman clearly deserved a DUI. Those complaining about the fact that she was arrested would be singing a different tune if she had struck and killed someone else.

2) Given the apparent levels of education and maturity on this forum, it's unsurprising that some of you think drunk driving is a sport. You probably think you should be able to aim your guns out of your pickup trucks while swerving between lanes, too. Git 'er done!

3) This is so not newsworthy. Unfortunately, for this offender, she belongs to a very exploitable demographic, and so NDN runs her mug to pander to their white conservative audience. How novel.

At least this thread will probably be buried by tomorrow..

goldengirl is right, you know. The cops do go for the easy picks and we do live in a semi police state here in La La Land.
