Lee deputies nab burglars after search

Lee deputies arrested three men after they broke into a Fort Myers auto shop Sunday evening, the Lee County Sheriff's Office reports. William Otis Carter, 38, Timothy Frederic Baker, 32, and Gregory Patrick Baker, 37, are charged with burglary to a business and grand theft. Full story »

Former executive sees damages in eagle case

A former vice president for construction at Stock Development is asking a jury to award him punitive damages against the high-profile developer, saying top executives set him up to take a fall for cutting down a bald eagle nest at Lely Resort in 2003. After a three-day trial in 2006, a jury acquitted Bonita Springs resident Joseph Ulrich, 43, of breaking federal eagle protection laws. Ulrich then filed a civil lawsuit accusing Stock Development, four subsidiaries and Stock CEO Brian Stock and Stock President Bob Imig of fraud and intentional infliction of emotional distress. A Golden Gate Estates woman has been sent to prison for two years for having sex with a 16-year-old runaway who stayed at her home. Collier Circuit Judge Elizabeth Krier imposed the prison term this week as part of a plea agreement that also requires Holly Louise Gee, 33, of 2930 Golden Gate Blvd. E., to serve eight years of sex-offender probation with an ankle monitor after her release from prison. Veteran Collier deputy's unmarked car towed

An unmarked pickup issued to a veteran of the Collier County Sheriff’s Office vanished on Wednesday afternoon. Sheriff’s deputies quickly mobilized, on the lookout for the vehicle after it was reported stolen by the 18-year veteran. Problem is, the pickup wasn’t actually stolen.
