East Naples mixed-use project won’t be sold, developer says

Public park possibility in downtown Naples

Plans for a public park in downtown Naples may be blooming. Naples attorney John Passidomo said Thursday he was setting up meetings with several Naples City Council members to discuss options for a portion of Renaissance Village. Several council members expressed interest in purchasing all, or part, of the 22-acre parcel of land on Goodlette-Frank Road and Fifth Avenue South. Full story »

New digs for Humane Society of Naples get preliminary approval

The dog house is getting a face lift. And the cat’s quarters won’t be too shabby, either. The Humane Society of Naples on Wednesday received preliminary design approval from the Naples Design Review Board for renovations and an expansion. Third law firm announces move to Mercato

The Lutgert Companies today announced the addition of the law firm Porter Wright Morris & Arthur, LLP to move its local offices to in The Mercato off U.S. 41, near Vanderbilt Beach Road. Kohl's job fair begins Sunday in North Naples

$53 million needed to fix Bonita Beach Road

That’s the amount of money needed to keep Bonita Beach Road and its interchange from falling into a failing level of service in the next four years, and not even a $10 million earmark from the federal government previously meant for a Coconut Road interchange is enough to cover the improvement costs. State starting over in potential leasing of Alligator Alley

This is more than a momentary delay. When state transportation officials canceled a meeting last week to review documents submitted by firms interested in leasing Alligator Alley, it seemed that perhaps the process would be postponed by a week or two. Florida Department of Transportation staffers now say the state will start the process over for amassing interest in Alligator Alley, issuing a new request for qualifications, the first step in the process to lease the 78-mile toll road to a private interest.     Since March 6, coyotes have been fingered in a string of attacks against dogs, cats and goats in Lee and Collier counties. Coyotes have killed three small dogs, injured three others, and caused a man who came into contact with the coyote’s saliva and a woman who was bitten by one to have rabies shots.
