The Banner: Show Us Your Pet

Sandra Alvarez wanted to show off her princess named Chiquita. She’s almost 1-year-old. She is a mix of a Pekingese and poodle (Peek-a-poo). Alvarez has had her since she was 8 weeks old. 'When my husband and I were looking for a puppy we were actually looking for a Maltese or a Yorkie, but when we saw her, her beautiful almond shaped eyes and sweet look hooked us,' Alvarez said. 'She was the most sweetest little thing ever. Both my husband and I instantly fell in love with her and we know she felt the same way for us and she bonded and played non-stop the entire four and a half hours we were there deciding to take her home with us. Unfortunately, just weeks after having her she developed a congenital hernia from which the breeders did not want to assume reasonability for. When she turned 4 months she had to have surgery to correct the hernia and since then she has been great. She is in perfect health.' Chiquita sleeps with them, goes on road trips and accompanies Sandra on shopping trips. 'We really couldn’t ask for a better pet,' Alvarez said. 'We love her and are blessed to have her as part of our family.'

  • Sonia and David Kinst from Chicago submitted a picture of their little guy named Motley, but they didn’t want their other two dogs to feel left out. This is a picture of Crazy and Bubba. Crazy is the dog in the back. 'They are Chicago dogs that love boating; and as you can see, Bubba loves to pose for camera,' Sonia Kinst said. The Kinsts are seasonal residents of Bonita Springs.

  • This is Maize and he’s a 1-year-old terrier mix. He weighs about 30 pounds and will steal your heart. He’s looking for a home in time for Valentine’s Day.   • Ben and Carrie Elieff of Naples sent us this picture of Reesie. She was adopted at 1-year of age and is now 6. She loves to sleep a lot in the afternoon, but enjoys playtime and watching TV in the evening.
