  • Trevor Griffin holds up a 31-inch snook caught while fishing the docks at Estero River Outfitters. Notice the dark, almost black colors of the back and tail. Snook caught in rivers and lakes tend to be much darker than snook caught near the beaches, where they are often silver on the backs with yellowish fins. African pompano must be at least 24 inches from head to the fork of the tail in order to be legally harvested. Florida state limit is two keepers per angler or vessel, whichever is less.   • Few things please anglers more than seeing their boat dockside in low-light conditions. This is a shot of local guide Bill Baldus' boat. Note the poling platform near the rear, the pole itself on the starboard side of the boat, the cover over his console and the secure docklines.   • Captain Brant Keller of Saltwater Cowboy Charters sent in this photo of Andy Retz with a large jack he caught on his birthday. Jacks are common in this region inshore and offshore.
