Different types of line dances have become popular over the years. The “Stroll” and the “Madison” gained popularity in the late 1950s to mid 1960s. Billy Ray Cyrus’ hit “Achy Breaky Heart” catapulted western line dancing into the mainstream during the ’90s. Now people line dance to both traditional country music and not-so-conventional songs.
