What a joke! yet again another cop that takes advantage of his powers and these are the type of people we depend on to protect us?! thats a joke. absouletly ridiculous! he should be fired immediately but the cops are to much of a good old boy community and just try 2 hush everything! I have completly lost any and all respect for these people they call cops.

Prediction... These 3 guys will get a nice chunk of change in court and Marco Island's budget will be short about 8 or 9 staff members they could have paid with that same money.

These drunk guys were idiots and probably were kicking the back of the seats to start this. But taking verbal abuse goes with being a police officer. Let the court system deal with these jerks. That is what the courts are for, not on the spot justice dealt out by an angry police officer for verbal abuse.

Verbal abuse is to be an expected part of the job as a police officer. They know that. Look who they deal with.

This act is borderline torture and in civilized societies shouldn't be tolerated. He endangered their lives. This police officer should lose his job.

Does history just constantly repeat itself? How is this possible that we have plain evidence that this officer ABUSED these people and he's still a police officer! When did we start putting ourselves above one another? Giving ourselves a sense of power over someone else because of money or a political position. It seems that our government is in office mainly just to intimidate us, not to help us. What happened to being American and looking out for our neighbors. This is a hard time for everyone in America; jobs are scarce, retirement accounts are depleting by the minute, and people are scared and tense. Just 7 years ago we all felt the wake of the disaster of 9/11. We all felt unified as a nation, and came together to help one another. How can someone feel the power to hit someone in handcuffs and suffocate them with pepper spray? I also love the response of Councilman Frank Recker that if he was the officer in question the three detainees would have "been in a lot worse shape." How is someone like this in a government position? And we're all on a terrorist alert when when maybe we should be focusing on the integrity of OUR own government.

It sickens me to say, but it's very probable that this sicko cop "got off" on the power. He needs to have his a-- kicked and shown the door...he's a sadistic freak!

Well, I don't know what you all saw but I didn't see anyone beating on these three idiots. Yeah, he shouldn't have used pepper spray on these three handcuffed dummies who didn't know when to shut the *uck up...but it seems to me that the stooge who "couldn't breathe" sure had enough breath to keep shouting.

It's too bad that the officer didn't transport the "three stooges" directly to the lockup as he should have done, but I would recommend further training and temporary administrative duty rather than firing him.
