Regarding the teacher evaluation system : Marzano. 1. There defindately needs to be an evaluation of the program from all sides. Yes, it is understood that the state requires an evaluation tool. This one is expecially labor intensive from all sides - principals and teachers. 2. The public has the right to know how much it is costing this district. All schools sent "coaches" to Marzano Training at least 3 - 5 sessions. All principals went to the same training, as well as administrators at a different time. Teachers had substitutes cover their classes when they were sent to training. How much did these trainings cost in both dollars to Marzano and cost of providing substitutes? Are coaches effective when they have to give up their planning time to "coach" teachers? All principals and assistant principals got an Ipad to do the required evaluations. Do principals have an Iphone too as a result of this new program? What was the bill for those devices 3. How many man hours are spent on the evaluation process from both teachers and administrators? For teachers that has a direct impact on the time spent preparing for students. Is it all worth the cost? Is there a better method? Will the cost be worth the outcome?
